On April 29, the ex-UFC Heavyweight Champion revealed that his 15-month-old son passed away on April 27. Even though Francis did not disclose how he passed away, he honored his deceased son on social media.

“Too soon to leave but yet he’s gone,” he wrote over a black and white photo with his son, alongside his son’s birth date and death date and “My little boy, my mate, my partner Kobe was full of life and joy and Now, he’s lying without life and I shouted his name over and over but he’s not responding.”

Francis also expressed his sorrow on X, previously known as Twitter, by posting about it… “What’s the purpose of life if what we’re fighting tooth and nail to get away from is what finally hit us the hardest!?”

Do You Know Former UFC Champion Francis Ngannou?

Francis Zavier Ngannou was born on September 5, 1986. He is an excellent fighter in both mixed martial arts and boxing. He fought in the Heavyweight category of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He defeated seven out of fourteen UFC opponents in the first two minutes of the round. 

His life is a source of inspiration due to his challenging upbringing, during which he started working in a sand mine at the age of 10 to assist his family. Nevertheless, Ngannou declined and opted to leverage his father’s unfavorable image as a street brawler as fuel to strive for a more constructive path in boxing. After relocating to Paris, he started training in mixed martial arts and quickly found success, leading to a rewarding UFC deal.

The UFC fighter left the organization to gain independence and a higher salary, a decision that was vindicated when he made $30 million (£23.88M) in his initial two matches. Ngannou has always aimed to support his family and contribute to the community in Cameroon by establishing the first MMA gym there.

Nevertheless, Ngannou suffered a knockout defeat at the hands of Anthony Joshua in March, leaving him to ponder his future in the boxing world. After the match, he maintained that he would keep pursuing his boxing career, stating: “I will assess the situation and decide on the next course of action.” Perhaps MMA is an option, but one thing is certain: I’m not finished in boxing yet. No, I haven’t completed it yet.

His trainer in France originally advised him to concentrate on MMA, which eventually resulted in him winning a UFC title. However, he later had the chance to follow his primary passion.

Ngannou exhibited boldness as he made the move to fight Tyson Fury in his debut competition without showing any signs of fear. He successfully knocked Fury to the ground and narrowly lost by a split decision, despite a majority of fans believing he was the victor. He found his equal in Anthony Joshua during his second professional fight, getting knocked out in under three rounds.
