Mount Horeb student shot and killed by Police for bringing Rifle to school has been identified. A 14-year-old boy who showed up with a weapon at Mount Horeb Middle School where he was shot and killed by police Wednesday appeared to be struggling with numerous challenges faced by typical teenagers.
He found pleasure in discovering new places and camping in various locations throughout the country, engaging in activities that immersed him in the natural world. During the summer months, he was often led by his love for nature to the tranquil beauty of Zoo Beach and Lion’s Den Gorge on Lake Michigan.
He enjoyed spending Saturdays with his father, going on hikes, and visiting Devil’s Lake. Damian had dreamt of visiting his family in Ecuador someday. His curiosity strengthened his sense of adventure. He had a passion for learning and exploring museums. Damian’s love for adventure was equal to his imagination, driving him to construct forts in the neighborhood and craft Lego designs.
Who was Damian Haglund?
Damian Haglund was born on December 22, 2009, in Madison, the son of Alejandro Cadena Garcia and Melissa Haglund. His parents are Alejandro Cadena Garcia and Melissa Haglund; his brother is Cristian Haglund; his grandparents are Gary and Cindi Haglund and Rene Cadena; his uncle is Dustin Haglund; his aunt is Grace Cadena; his great-uncle is Alejandro Vinueza; and his beloved pet is Dex.
Haglund’s writing is primarily focused on school shootings, with a particular emphasis on the 1999 incident at Columbine High School in Colorado. On his blog and social media platform X, Damian created his memes inspired by Columbine, commemorated the anniversary of the attack, and admired the “style” of a different school shooter at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut.
He labeled it his “Columbine addiction,” a problem he seemed to be grappling with and lamented that he couldn’t find assistance for.
Why did the Police shoot Damian Haglund?
Damian Haglund, a 14-year-old boy, was identified as the armed “active shooter” who was fatally shot by police near a Wisconsin middle school in Mount Horeb on May 1.
Students reported seeing Damian come to the school around 11:30 a.m. On Wednesday, someone hit a window with the butt of what seemed to be a long gun.
As students and staff fled, the cops confronted the child and shot him dead. No additional people were wounded. The State Justice Department recognized the gun as a Ruger pellet rifle in.177 caliber. Police instructed him to drop the gun, but he refused and aimed it at them, resulting in the police shot.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at Gunderson Camacho Mount Horeb Funeral and Cremation Care, 500 N. Eighth St., Mount Horeb.
