Darius Morris, former NBA guard has passed away. He was 33. The reason for death remains unknown at present. He was a member of the Michigan-Wolverines-basketball team and Morris was also selected for the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the 2011 NBA. 

Morris debuted for the Defenders with 21 points. In the final regular-season game on April 26, Morris scored 9 points and had 5 assists while playing against the Sacramento Kings. Morris’s dad was employed at the USPS branch in Venice.

Darius Aaron Morris was born January 3, 1991. He was an American professional basketball player. Morris was chosen as the 41st overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Lakers where he played as a point guard. 

Early life Morris was raised in Carson, California and In high school, Morris, the son of Dewayne Sr. & Robin Morris, attended Windward School. Morris, a fearless freshman, established the media that he would be capable of a score and lead Windward to a state championship before graduating.

He received invitations to many All-star basketball camps organized by LeBron James, Steve Nash, the National Basketball Players Association, and Nike.

Morris was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2011 season’s second round, he joined teammates Derek Fisher, Steve Blake, and Matt Barnes in appearing on the season 1 finale of The X Factor on December 22, during a performance by 50 Cent. 

On January 11, he played 13 minutes against Utah in his first game for the Lakers, contributing his first four points, his first two assists, and his first rebound. The Lakers secured their first win on the road this season after the game went into overtime, breaking their streak of four unsuccessful attempts. 

In later games, Morris started playing as Blake suffered a costochondral fracture in the rib-sternum cartilage. Morris maintained a primary position for seven matches while Blake was sidelined with a rib injury before transitioning back to a more restricted role. 

Morris was signed by Guangdong Southern Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) on January 5, 2018, under certain conditions to take Edwin Jackson’s place. On February 21, 2018, he chose not to extend his contract with the Guangdong Southern Tigers following the signing of Donald Sloan as his replacement. Morris stepped down from his position with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on March 21.

Morris wasn’t there for the championship game run. On Saturday, Beilein wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he was a key figure in the program’s transformation, which led to Michigan’s success in the following decade with 21 wins in a season.

In a post on X, ex-Michigan coach John Beilein remembered Morris’ passing, describing him as a “leader” during his time in the college program.
