Forrest Richard Betts is known as Dickey Betts. He was born in Born in West Palm Beach Florida USA on 12th December 1943. He is one of three children of Harold and Sarah Betts. He learned an appreciation of music from his father Harold Betts on the Gulf Coast in Bradenton, near Tampa.
Dickey Betts changed schools several times because his father worked construction, and those memories inspired him to write “Ramblin’ Man.” His first big road-trip came when he joined the circus to play in a band.

Dickey Betts Graduated to guitar in his teenage and formed his band at a young age. He formed another band in 1967 and after that, he was invited to join Duane Allman in a new band.
