Chef Joey Fecci passed away after receiving immediate medical care during the St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Series Nashville Marathon, as reported by News Channel 5, WSMV, and the Tennessean. Fecci was discovered unconscious at the Shelby Park section of the race.
The last time Joey’s family saw him alive was at mile 18 near Nissan Stadium, where they captured a video of him looking cheerful, with a smile on his face, and exchanging high fives. They did not anticipate that his race would come to an end near mile 22 at Shelby Park. That is the location where race officials reported finding Joey unconscious, and medical personnel administered CPR.

While at Yolan, he oversaw the creation of events and menus through research and development, collaborating with famous chefs such as Top Chef Winner Joe Flamm.
Nick said that Yolan was able to advance quickly to Chef di Cucina and create a culture, ambiance, and seasonal menus that led to the restaurant being named the top new restaurant by Food & Wine magazine. In 2024, he departed from that place, and his brother mentioned that Joey had expressed his desire to start his own restaurant the evening prior to the marathon.
In a recent post on Instagram, Joey announced his departure, stating: “I have been lucky to be involved in something amazing for the past 3.5 years.” Assisting in the growth of Yolan into the unique restaurant it is today has been an amazing journey.
