An individual passed away following a fall from Ohio Stadium at Ohio State University’s graduation event on Sunday. According to Dispatch reporter Jordan Laird, some students at the graduation ceremony and audience members showed visible signs of distress.
The Columbus Dispatch, which is a member of the USA TODAY Network, stated that an officer requested assistance over the OSU police radio at approximately 12:30 p.m., asking for medics and additional officers at gate 30 (of Ohio Stadium) because someone had fallen off the stadium.
As of 6 p.m., law enforcement and university representatives did not provide any more details regarding the death. The beginning proceeded without interruption as word of the death circulated among the crowd. Students who were leaving the ceremony walked by the spot where the body had fallen, which was still marked off by yellow crime scene tape.
The commencement speakers, including Chris Pan, a social entrepreneur and OSU alum, have not brought up the incident. Pan discussed global peace and Bitcoin, along with other subjects, and performed the song ‘This Little Light of Mine.’

Ben Johnson, a spokesperson for the university, provided limited extra information. He mentioned that the police and other emergency responders were present at the scene. Johnson stated that the university will offer counseling and other support services to individuals impacted by the situation.
According to a witness who spoke to the Columbus Dispatch, which has journalists present at the scene, the individual fell while the last graduates were walking by the location of the accident. The incident was not mentioned by the speakers at the graduation ceremony, according to the Dispatch.
