Troy truly loved life. His favorite activities included fishing in Florida, running, staying active, and watching sports, but above all, he cherished being a father to his daughters, Elle and Reagan.
Troy’s talent for recognizing the positive qualities in people and forming deep relationships, and smiles illuminated family spaces, fitness centers, and educational settings. This skill determined his identity and shaped his lifestyle.
Steve and Jillene Moran from Whitehall, along with his daughters Elle and Reagan, siblings Todd and Rachel from Macomb and Seal Beach, California, respectively, and nephew and nieces Riley, Reese, and Pfeifer, are the ones who will remember Troy.
Do you know Troy Moran?
Moran was born in Whitehall, Michigan, which is approximately 50 miles north of Grand Rapids. According to Ocean County Press, he finished high school at Whitehall in 1996 and attended Western Michigan University.
Moran previously served as a dean of students at a high school and principal at an upper elementary school in Egelston Township, Michigan, near Grand Rapids.
Troy Moran Career:
As per Ocean County Press, Troy Moran assumed the role of principal at Hart High School in Hart, Michigan, in 2021. According to the outlet, he initiated the Ride with Pride program at the school, which aims to bring law enforcement and schools together to create a program that encourages safe and positive choices.
Moran served as the principal of Montague High School for four years and was a teacher in the Mona Shores school district for an extensive period. He also served as the dean of students at the high school and principal of the upper elementary school at Oakridge Public Schools.
FOX 17 interviewed Superintendent Platt, who informed us that Moran had a lengthy tenure as a committed educator, beginning as a teacher at Timberland Academy in Muskegon, then teaching middle school at Oakridge, transitioning to become a principal at Montague High School in 2018, and ultimately assuming the position at Hart in 2022.
Pratt said they were aware that he would eventually pursue the superintendency. Moran enjoyed his role at Hart and was not ready to leave the district yet.
Hart High School is conducting classes today while also providing support for those affected by the unexpected loss.
The Funeral service is scheduled for 4:00 PM on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Shelby Road Baptist Church. Interment is scheduled at Oakhurst Cemetery in Whitehall, Michigan. Donations in honor of Troy can be made to the Ride with Pride program at Hart High School. The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services handles arrangements.
